Pinterest is just declared the third most visited social networking site in USA after Facebook and Twitter. That means the months old site has defeated mega giants like Google+, LinkedIn, , MySpace and Tumblr. If the office of Pinterest is not echoed with popping champagne corks yet, one has to say they are pretty miser about spending money. The official report was out on Thursday and the report was conducted by Experian Marketing Services. However, the number does not include mobile traffic.
Pinterest is a bookmarking website and mobile application that allows people to pin or bookmark or save a picture, an webpage, or save a link on the wall of the site. The beauty of the site is you can always see a large image of the pin on those walls. In one of our reports earlier, it was stated that the subtle and serene beautiful look of the site is the main reason behind Pinterest’s humongous success.
In March, Facebook had more than 7 billion total visitors; Twitter had 182 million; and Pinterest had 104 million total visits from people in the United States, according to data sent to CNN by Experian. The way Pinterest has grown over January, February, and March 2012, it has surely proven to be the biggest opener ever after the launch of Facebook.
Women love Pinterest, Pinterest is loved by other social networks (like the profile box on Facebook), the US president is on Pinterest, and in March, the top chart of social networks by traffic in USA read like this:
1. Facebook
2. Twitter
3. Pinterest
So, come on, go mad about pinning!
